Tamayo Museum


Founded in 1981 in Mexico City, the Rufino Tamayo Contemporary Art Museum carries out innovative exhibitions of international contemporary art in addition to exhibiting its collection formed by its founders and includes important pieces form the second half of the 20th century to today.

The mission of the Rufino Tamayo Contemporary Art Museum is the display and spread of the most outstanding pieces of plastic art as well as international contemporary art expressions. Its task is to show modern art to generate new experiences, knowledge and analysis on national and international cultural diversity of our time.

Since 1986, the Rufino Tamayo Contemporary Art Museum is part of the National Institute of Fine Arts (INBA) and receives extra support from the Olga and Rufino Tamayo Foundation.

It is located at museum circuit in the city at Bosque de Chapultepec. In terms of contemporary art the museum is privileged in Mexico and is recognized worldwide.
