In order to escape from the tedium of her life, Marion Crane decides to flee with some stolen money. Tired from travelling, she decides to lodge in Bates Motel. Her family starts to look for her, unaware that the investigation will take them to meet the sinister Norman Bates, the clerk of the place. This film became the greatest cinematographic phenomenon in Hitchcock’s career. His exploration of the dark part of the human psyche –incarnated by the emblematic Norman Bates and his disturbing gestures– turned it into an obliged reference in modern horror cinema, because of its use of psychological terror and subtle approach to violence.
