Los Pinos Cultural Complex inagurates its first exhibition: From What Was Lost, What May Appear. 33 Visions of Painting in Mexico, made up by woks that are part of the art collection of the, back then, Presidential Residency of Los Pinos, and that now are back in this space for the enjoyment of the citizens.
The collection of 33 works was started on 1993 when it was commissioned to a group of renowned painters of Mexico their execution; for this selection, it was considered to have the most ample diversity possible, and with the only common denominator of their artistic quality, the generations, approaches, and most significant trends of the contemporary visual arts of the country.
The exhibition: From What Was Lost, What May Appear. 33 Visions of Painting in Mexico, takes us close to different facets and faces of contemporary visual arts, where are contrasted the mature discoveries of the creators that in the middle of last century, favored a stage of renewal of Mexican painting with the point of view of young painters who worked to enrich the national culture.
The collection is made up by works by Gustavo Aceves, Enrique Canales, Miguel Castro Leñero, Rafael Cauduro, Alejandro Colunga, Rafael Coronel, Roberto Cortázar, José Luis Cuevas, José Chávez Morado, Beatriz Ezban, Manuel Felguérez, Julio Galán, Vicente Gandía, Luis García Guerrero, Gunther Gerzso, Lauro López, Luis López Loza, Rodolfo Morales, Luis Nishizawa, Silvia Ordóñez, Vicente Rojo, José Luis Romo, Ignacio Salazar, Susana Sierra, Juan Soriano, Eduardo Tamariz, Humberto Urbán, Cordelia Urueta, Ismael Vargas, and Germán Venegas, among other artists.
