Rafael Lozano-Hemmer: Unstable Presence

Rafael Lozano-Hemmer: Unstable Presence exhibition is a great museographic review of the work of the renowned Mexican artist Rafael Lozano-Hemmer (Mexico City, 1967) presented for the first time in Mexico offering a new perspective about the artist's production during the last 18 years, exploring its poetic and political dimensions through the notion of copresence.

Rafael Lozano-Hemmer's works offer a nuanced view of the emancipatory rhetoric of the participation and aesthetics of digital media, reminding us the complex and often problematic intervention of technology in broader social, economic and political contexts. The artist based on the understanding that technology is not an instrument or tool, but an inevitable form of determination of subjectivity and sociability. From the game with the touch, sight, breathing, hearing and movement of the audience, his work seeks to activate relationships among machine, environment and perception, to thereby show the way in which technology, body and political body are inseparable.
