Leonora Carrington. Magical Tales

The Contemporary Art Museum of Monterrey presents Leonora Carrington. Magical Tales, a grand retrospective exhibition that explores the different facets of the Mexican artist of English origin as surrealist painter, sculptor, writer and reader, as well as her incursions into theater and film. This exhibition covers more than 60 years of career, emphasizing the historical moments that were fundamental in her work, from her beginnings in painting, her life in France and New York, her relationship with animals and her approach to different religions; the impact of her work, the circumstances and the contact she had with Mexico, the country she arrived at in 1942 and where she lived almost uninterruptedly until her death.

More than 200 pieces including easel and mural painting, graphics, drawing, sculpture, masks and stage designs, textiles, photographs, documents, books and personal items.
