An unprecedented approach to Leonora Carrington’s work that places value on 60 years of production made since she was 12-years old and until her last days.

Integrated by 200 pieces, including mural and easel painting, sculptures, graphics, rugs, sets, masks, photographs, documents, books and personal objects, from collections of Mexico, USA and Europe, the grand show will allow the viewer to know how poetry, literature, philosophy and expressions of ancient civilizations, mainly Mayan and Celtic, were reflected in Carrington’s pictorial imaginary.

The exhibition Leonora Carrington. Magical Tales, was assembled under the curatorship of Stefan van Raay and Tere Arcq. Among the paintings that will be exhibited are: The Giantess (1946), Are You Really Syrius? (1953) and The Inn of the Dawn Horse (Self-Portrait) (ca. 1937-1938), as well as new works such as Leo, wool rug (For Hugh Fremantle) (1975), six masks for Opus Siniestrus, Carrington’s play (1976) and the collage on double-sided cardboard Papillon Nocturne (1949).
