Ethnography of Jalisco

An exhibition that shows the economic complements of the peasantry. This sector, by not being self-sufficient, appeals to other temporary activities for its sustenance, such as fishing, harvest, and crafts.

The land that the Mexican farmer cultivates is exposed not only to the changes of nature, but also to the constant indebtedness coming from loans, market and technology. In these circumstances, the economic sustainability of a peasant family is difficult, since the monetary value of the production is often not enough to satisfy the primary needs and cover the debts that the farmer has incurred along the agricultural cycle. In the face of this situation, the country man is forced to perform other works suggested by the geographical conditions of the place, with the purpose of completing his family economy, without forgetting, of course, the agricultural work.
