The exhibition is made up by 50 works, out from which 34 belong to the museum’s collection, in different techniques: 45 paintings, in oil, pastel, and gouache, four drawings in graphite, charcoal, and a sanguine; and a mixografia.

Divided into three core themes: Looking for the Archetype; From Mexico to the Cosmos; and For a Geometry of Space, Rufino Tamayo, Ecstasy of Color, gives account of the experimentation, dynamism, and search in the field of geometry and abstraction by the artist from Oaxaca.

Forty-one years after the last grand exhibition dedicated to the artist from Oaxaca, and at 26 of his demise, the visitor may approach to an intimate aesthetic of the painter, linked to dreams and an interior quest, where Tamayo develops a science of color, until arriving to monochrome works.
