The National Trust for the Encouragement of Handicrafts (FONART) was created under a decree of the Federal Government on May 1974. Its mission is to design and perform politics of development, promotion, and commercialization of the artisanal activity; encourage its research, as well as the related regulations, aiding to increase the quality of life of the artisans and to spread Mexico’s cultural heritage.

By reason of the Day of the Artisan, on May 19th, 2019, FONART launched its redesigned store in its headquarters of Patriotismo Avenue, which is part of a new approach that the Trust has attempted to give to the pieces as cultural objects.

The new face of the store has the objective of giving more space to each artisanal item, and also to make the artisans known in person in the direct sale.
