REVIEW

Francisco I. Madero Social Center of Tuxtla Gutiérrez was built in 1883 as a municipal theater. One hundred thirty-two years ago, it occupied the atrium of the former San Jacinto Church.

Seventeen years after its creation (1900), it received the name of State Theater and it joined to the heritage of the Government of Chiapas.

Thirty years after its second denomination it was called Emilio Rabasa Theater, remaining only 14 years because in 1944 it was closed.

A few years later, Juan Esponda, being governor, ordered its demolition and it was reopened in 1946. Since then it is known by the name it has kept to date.
