It takes the name of the hill on which it’s located. El Coporo lies in the northern border of Mesoamerica, geographical and cultural space which has generated different questions among researchers about Pre-Hispanic migrations and the coexistence between nomadic and sedentary societies, as well as the cultural complexity. It’s part of the subarea known as Large Tunal because it shows similarity with the main characteristic sites of Large Tunal. The presence of Pre-Hispanic architecture such as pyramidal basements associated to closed plazas, place its splendor in Mesoamerica between the years 600 and 900 CE.
