The National College was founded in Mexico by the presidential decree of Manuel Ávila Camacho in 1943, as an institution that would gather the most remarkable Mexican scientists, artists and persons of letters, with the objective of preserving and making public the most important in science, arts and humanity that Mexico has to offer to the world. Its motto is: “Freedom for wisdom”.
