It is a large esplanade located in the downtown of the city of Guadalajara, it is located on the back of the Cathedral and facing Degollado Theatre. Its name is due to a sculpture of Father Hidalgo breaking chains, the symbol of the abolition of slavery.

The Square of the Liberation is also known as the Square of the Three Powers and the Square of the Two Cups, and is a crowded space because it is located in the Historic Downtown.
