National Dance Company



REVIEW

Its origins go back to 1963, when the Classical Ballet of Mexico was created.

On its first decade of existence, prestigious international personalities of this discipline helmed of the company, consolidated the classical technique, included works and broadened the repertory with international works and new works by Mexican creators.

Already on 1974, it established the necessary basis to create a great company, which generated the change of name to: National Dance Company, which was instituted by Presidential Decree on September 2nd, 1977; this labor was conceived and developed by its director Salvador Vázquez Araujo, who proposed the assistance from Cuba, and the establishment of the National System for the Professional Teaching of Dance, in order to train dancers with a complete academic training.
