  • CATEGORY: Interest places

The main square, known as Parque Juárez is the urban heart of Metepec. Although it has not been located documents or drawings that give us certainty of what this place was like in the 16th century and why parish is outside the four-side area that makes it up, it is possible to imagine that the today called Portal Union was formerly the merchants portal or market of the parián, in accordance with the style of the time.

The current looks of the Juárez Park highlights the Government Palace, the kiosk, the monument to Benito Juárez, the clock and its great fountain. This water feature has become the main attraction, as well as the figure of the Tlanchana, this mythical mermaid of the pre-Hispanic inhabitants of the region who, according to a legend, reigned over the Chignahuapan lagoons.
