The construction design concept refers to the swallow, symbol of the island, plus, its curve shapes offer little resistance to the hurricane winds, very common in the region. The architectural solution proposes to fulfill with the objective of offering a public space by promoting an approach to scientific knowledge and technological innovation, the knowledge of the universe, preservation of natural resources and environmental heritage of the state of Quintana Roo.

“Cha ́an Ka ́an” is the name chosen by the people in Cozumel. Cha ́an Ka ́an means “To watch or enjoy the sky”. By means of astronomical observation, the Mayas achieved scientific knowledge that still today amazes us for its precision and with it they regulated their life, religion and culture. To enjoy astronomy and the legacy of this millennial culture are part of the activities that take place in this complex for the spreading of science, technology and culture.
