The site could be considered as the westernmost site of the Maya area. It was very important during the Classic Period, as part of the trade routes in the southern region of Mesoamerica. The core of the site is consisted by different type of buildings, squares and courtyards, evidence of urban planning. It stood out as an important producer of fine clay pots and little figures that were commercially exchanged in distant places.
