One of the standing up elements in the site is the Structure 1, which is atypical regarding its architecture since it presents three towers instead of two, which is the regular Río Bec (Bec River) style. The site is consisted of 24 settlements that represents a great Pre-Hispanic city, which covers an area of 6 kilometers from east to west and 2 kilometers from north to south.

Xpuhil town is located on the Federal Highway 186, Escárcega-Chetumal. The archaeological site is very near to the town with the same name and 9 km [5.5 miles] to the east of the archaeological zone of Chicanná is a road that leads to Xpuhil. Another option is to go from Campeche City through the Federal Highway 180 to Holpelchén town, and then to the junction with State Highway 269, which communicates with Xpujil town, at the junction with Federal Highway 186. Visitors can reach the site by public transport; however, they must walk to the entrance of the site.
