The Mexican Institute of Cinematography (Imcine) is a decentralized public organism that encourages the development of the national cinematographic activity through the support to the production, the incentive to the creators, the industrial encouragement and the promotion, distribution, and spreading of Mexican cinema.

It was created on March 23rd, 1983 to:

  • -Consolidate and increase the national cinematographic production.
  • -Establish policies for the industrial encouragement in the audiovisual sector.
  • -Help to the cinematographic production, distribution, and exhibition inside and outside Mexico’s borders.
  • -Generate a good image of Mexican cinema and its creators around the world.
  • -Promote the knowledge of cinematography to different publics through festivals, seasons, and forums in all the regions of the country.
