The National Coordination of Anthropology (CNAN) develops activities of research, training, connection and spreading of INAH anthropologic studies. It is integrated by the departments of Physical Anthropology, Ethnology, Social Anthropology, Ethnohistory and Linguistics as well as the department of Support to Research. It has 70 researchers assigned to its five departments.

The knowledge and the results of the research developed by the scholars of the Coordination contribute with information and reflections for the anthropological knowledge from different perspectives. These researches enable the specialized training in subjects such as cultural heritage, indigenous populations, health and disease, violence or political and social processes. Also, their research contributes with ideas and diagnoses of social relevance that contribute to the creation of public policies.

The Coordination carries out academic and cultural events, publications, seminars, courses, congresses and colloquiums. As part of the connection tasks, the CNAN looks for and manages collaboration and mutual benefit agreements between the researchers and different national and international institutions.
