Las Rosas Garden

  • CATEGORY: Interest places

The Luis Gonzalez or Las Rosas Garden is a square located in the historical center of the city of Morelia. It is surrounded by buildings with a solid architecture and historical importance for people in Michoacan. There is a central fountain made of the traditional pink stone that is adornedby ornamental trees and plants forming landscapes that are nice to the sight of the visitors who come to rest on the park’s benches or to have a cup of coffee in the nearby cafes. There are two bronzes: one erected to honor the Spanish writer Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra and another to honor the friar Don Vasco de Quiroga; both statues are the center of homages carried out by civil society organizations on meaningful dates such as the death anniversaries of these famous characters.
