There are more than 14,000 street children in Mexico City and many more at risk of raising this number.
30% of them live in Cuauhtemoc municipality where the Renacimiento Foundaition is.
Renacimiento Foundation is a non-profit institution dedicated to help children and teenagers who live or have lived on the streets and/or due to their socio-family conditions are at risk of leaving their homes thanks to the integral attention program, whose characteristics are:
•    Door open policy
•    Housing and Food services
•    Medical, psychological and pedagogical attention
•    Basic schooling and workshops to learn different crafts
“Every child is entitled to a dignified living”; thus, the institution seeks for the individual complete development to reinstate them effectively to the society.
Nowadays, they also work to prevent families of the community in the downtown area and Tepito providing counseling and services and if needed sent to special centers. Additionally, they work with those who still sleep on the streets and try to change their lifestyle in a positive way.
This foundation is part of the UNESCO Program for the Education of Children in Difficult Circumstances.
They also organize different sport events for street children like the “Mundialito”, sponsored by the Government of Mexico City.
