Francisco Cossío Museum is one of the main cultural institutions in the entity, which houses an important collection of public art, represented by works of art and objects from geological eras, sculptural and ceramic remains of Pre-Hispanic cultures, Western Art of the 16th and 20th centuries and the plastic production of the current century.
The house was built in 2 stages: From 1906 to 1907 and from 1919 to1922, in French eclectic style with profuse interior decoration. Joaquín Meade Saínz-Trápaga, great historian of San Luis Potosí, designed the last stage. Florentino Rico was in charge of the construction and stonework and Antonio Cervantes of carpentry.
The extension of the farm included 5 hectares. It had orchards, a tennis court, a lake, swimming pool and beautiful gardens. Francisco Cossío Museum has an artistic and historical collection formed since 1970 through the management of the architect Francisco Cossío by means of in kind donations from people of San Luis Potosí and friends of the institution, acquisitions and loans from INBA and INAH, as well as from individuals becoming one of the most important public art collections in the country.
