The Church of is perhaps the most important and visible building in Coyoacan, Mexico. The Dominicans erected a temporary building in 1528 on a Calmecac whose ruins are preserved under one of the cloisters of the convent. The building of the current church began in the second half of the sixteenth century and for two centuries. One side of the temple of Saint John the Baptist retains a vestibule in the north archway of St. John the Baptist, it was moved and relocated around 1880. Now serves as an entrance to a small cemetery beside the church.
