Its main façade reminds us of the disappeared Bartolomé de Medina Theatre that was demolished in 1943.
The present Hidalgo Theatre Bartolomé de Medina was inaugurated in 1957. White quarry stone from Tezoantla was used in its construction. The main body of the building we can distinguish two levels whose structure is finished by an ample pediment with three arches in the lower level and three balconies in the upper. Since 1987 it is a multipurpose cultural precinct for different activities: theatre, dance, conferences, concerts and exhibitions.
The theatre has two levels and has 453 seats, has a stage of 8 by 6 meters, two dressing rooms, a conference room for 70 persons, and three rooms for classical ballet classes. In November of the year 2000, as an initiative of CEDECULTAH, the Educal Book Store Margarita Michelena was installed in the lower level of the precinct.
