José Guadalupe Posada Museum

REVIEW

The museum is located in Barrio del Encio, also known as Barrio de Triana and it dates from early 19th century. It was originally the presbytery of the temple of Señor del Encino. As a result of the expropriation law of Church lands, the building was confiscated by the government and used for different purposes. Years later, it was rebuilt and on September 16, 1972 it was inaugurated as the José Guadalupe Posada Museum, being the first art museum in the state.
