Miguel Lerdo de Tejada Library

The Library of the SHCP was created in 1928 to stimulate the study of Economic Sciences; its first venue was the Chapel of the Empress at the National Palace. In 1957 it was named after Miguel Lerdo de Tejada to honor the man who was in the Ministry of Finance with the presidents Ignacio Comonfort and Benito Juárez. Located in the Former Oratory of San Felipe Neri, the Miguel Lerdo de Tejada Library has a valuable historical collection  formed by great economic and social masters that directed it, among them we can find Jesus Silva Herzog, its founder, Daniel Cosío Villegas and Agustín Yáñez. In 1970 it was moved to the Former Oratory of San Felipe Neri, once Theatre Arbeu, magnificent building restored by the Ministry of Finance and Public Credit (SHCP), which a baroque façade is a valuable monument in the Historical Center of the Mexico City.
