REVIEW

Presently located in a 19th century building, restored and conditioned to share its premises with the Manuel Álvarez Bravo Photographic Center, the Eduardo Mata Sound Recordings Library of the Graphic Arts Institute of Oaxaca started its activities on 1997, under the initiative of the painter Francisco Toledo. Its present collection has over 6 thousand volumes of records, videos, recorded tapes, books, magazines, catalogues, and musical scores, available to all the users coming to its premises.

Among its objectives, Eduardo Mata Sound Recordings Library offers a center with a completely open access to any person who has the opportunity to be musically enriched through the phonographic and documentary material it has; also, to offer a space where different musical expression converge, from concert music to the traditional manifestations, as represented in its diverse collection.
