House of Culture of Nuevo Leon


The facility housed the railroad station of the route Monterrey-Gulf of Mexico until 1960. On its platforms disembarked important characters from the Revolution like Francisco I. Madero, Generals Felipe Angeles, Francisco Villa and Pablo Gonzalez, among others. In 1975 it got remodeled to found the House of Culture of Nuevo Leon. A section of the building was fitted to set up the Railroad Museum, opened in 1197.

The areas of the old Gulf Station make the House of Culture be the ideal place to take different kind of public to places where the muses of arts are the protagonists of the daily life.

Located at the heart of the city, the House of Culture, a five-story building and annex center, holds El Tren book store, the Railroad Museum, the Alfredo Gracia Vicente Library, the Gabriel Figueroa Hall, the Theater of the Station, The Regional Center of Information, Promotion and Research of Northeast Literature, the Composers Center of Nuevo Leon, galleries of plastic arts and areas for different workshops.
