Diego Rivera House of Culture

REVIEW

The House of Culture started its activities on October 16, 1973, thanks to an agreement between Fine Arts and the City Hall of  León. It has its first seat the building in Juarez street 202, in corner with Constitución. Then, it moved to 5 de Mayo, in the so called Casa de las Monas (House of the Dolls). The 18th century mansion was property of the Gómez family, and then of the Bernal Caballero, Arocha, and Gutiérrez de la Concha families. It became the Inn of the Delights, and in the 20th century was the Mexico Hotel.

Presently there are taught classes with over 120 workshops of: visual arts, music, dance, theatre, literature, handicrafts, and English, in 26 classrooms with 65 professors.
