Regional Museum of Durango

REVIEW

The building, home of the museum, comes from the 19th century, its construction was inspired by the old Parisian palaces with Versailles-like details in stone: moldings, cushion, garland, stairs, banisters and columns. The main central stairs, doors and windows are also carved in wood which altogether make a harmonious building. The museum holds a global vision of the state in such a way that the visitor has a general knowledge of what it is and has been the State of Durango in its different aspects: geological, prehistoric, archaeological, colonial, Independent period, political disturbances, foreign interventions, Reformation, Porfirian times, Revolution and Cristero War, modern Durango and Tepehuana Culture supported by a temporary exhibit hall. Each hall, window and pieces have information cards in a simple language to complement and reinforce the historical conscience of the community, since the aim of the museum is to make aware the population to preserve, rescue and spread the cultural heritage.
