Tlaxcala Art Museum

REVIEW

The building that harbors the museum was built on the 19th century. It had different uses and now was adapted to harbor one of the most valuable collections of Tlaxcala: the early, and unknown, works by the Mexican painter Frida Kahlo, made between 1923 and 1927. It also exhibits a sample of the painting and sculpture of the New Spain from El Carmen Museum in Mexico City. It opened on May 2004, the original design of the building, which formerly served as a jail and a hospital, is almost intact.
