State Museum of Oaxaca Folk Art

It is a space meant to promote and encourage folk art in the state of Oaxaca where the artisans from San Bartolo Coyotepec participate as well as those from the central valleys of Oaxaca. The museum shelters and develops an interesting activism to encourage and promote the different artistic expressions, like exhibits such as the book presentation of “Grandes Maestros del Arte Popular Oaxaqueño [Great Masters of Folk Art from Oaxaca], a collection sponsored by Banamex Foundation together with other institutions and Seculta. This material presents beautiful images and the history of each one of the potters from San Bartolo Coyotepec. In 2011, the potters of San Bartolo won the National Award of Sciences and Arts in the category of Arts and Popular Traditions. Like these actions, the museum keeps encouraging and promoting popular art in children, youth and adults to preserve the ancestral traditions.
