Museum of Zacatecas

REVIEW

Located in the historical center of the city, the museum is located in what used to be Casa de Moneda de Zacatecas a construction from 1826.

It was created in 1995, thanks to the management of don Federico Sescosse Lejeune, local personality who devoted his life to protect and preserve the cultural heritage of Zacatecas.

Its collection comprises three different thematic lines: Culture and Huichol Art, an encounter with an ancestral living culture, part of the current cultural diversity of the Mexico; Popular Religious Imaginary of the 19th century, an approach to the popular religious iconography, bastion of an artistic past; Colonial wrought iron work, notable examples of applied arts.
