Theater of Heroes

The theater is part of the Cultural and Artistic Complex of Chihuahua. It was designed by the architect Miguel Ángel García Dorantes and inaugurated by President José López Portillo on October 2, 1980. A modern theater, worthy successor of the former theater with the same name that was designed by architect George E. King and inaugurated on September 16, 1902 with the opera Aida by Giuseppe Verdi with the Mario Lombardi Italian Opera Company. This Victorian style theater was at the level of the best theaters of the 19th century in Mexico. Unfortunately, it was consumed by a fire in 1955. In the current version of this space take place operas, plays, music and dance shows, children’s shows, festivals, conferences, assemblies and governance reports. The first play was Annie by Thomas Meehan, directed by José Luis Ibañez, set design in charge of Joaquín Burgos and Felipe Pons, starring Sergio Bustamante, Virma González and Dolores Cortés.
