Located near the site of the establishment of Monterrey and inaugurated on November 30th, 1994, the Museum of Mexican History is the most important historical exhibition in the north of the country. It comprises over 1,200 pieces distributed in an area of 15 thousand square meters, which illustrate different aspects of life in Mexico from the Pre-Hispanic time to the 20th century, including small everyday items up to a real locomotive. Also, this space has a room for temporary exhibitions, a library-video library, and an auditorium.
The permanent exhibition of the Museum of Mexican History has interactive search modules integrated to the tour to complement the experience of learning and the entertainment. Its historic script was coordinated by the researcher Margarita Loera and renowned national researchers.
With a construction system based on a prefabricated steel structure covered with white stone, the building harboring the Museum of Mexican History is the product of the creativity of the architects Óscar Bulnes, from Monterrey, and Augusto Álvarez, from Mexico City. It was expressly designed for this purpose, following a sober and functional line taken from the historic and museological scripts.
