Xicohténcatl Theater

  • CATEGORY: Theater
  • PHONES: (246) 462 4073

Inaugurated on May 5, 1873, the theater is named after the Tlaxcalteca warrior who was against the alliance of his people with the Spanish conquerors. The building has undergone several restructurings from 1886 to 1985, when the State Government transferred it to the Institute of Culture of Tlaxcala. In 2000, the Tlaxcala municipality joined efforts with the National Council for Culture and the Arts (CONACULTA), through the Support to the Infrastructure of the States Program (PAICE) in order to update the architecture of the theater and renew its equipment.

The first performance registered was in 1945.

The activities it presents are theatre plays, musical shows; classical, contemporary, and folkloric dance, recitals, musical tales, lectures and book presentations.
