The Daughter of the Air

The always admirable National Theater Company, presents the mise-en-scène The Daughter of the Air by Pedro Calderón de la Barca. Published in 1664, the play is particularly important in these times not only for its universal topics, but also because these are current issues: desire of power and perpetuation, intrigue and double moral, questionable and condemnable behavior of the ruling class. In his text, Calderón de la Barca clearly warns the social unbalance and political chaos that these conducts cause in the people, and he does it with such admirable power and clarity, sketching his characters and vices so lucid that they are almost seen as archetypes.
