In the early 20th century, five freedom-loving teenagers commit a savage crime. As corrective, the boys are delivered to a captain that embarks them in an exhausting journey. After a mutiny, they disembark in a mysterious island where they suffer a big metamorphosis. Marked by the provocation, a suggestive erotic imaginary, and an aesthetic that recovers the syntax of the silent cinema, Bertrand Mandico’s debut film is a surrealistic and hallucinating cocktail that subverts the rules of the adventure films. Played by a group of young actresses, the protagonists move across an oneiric world defined by fantasy, insurrection, violence, and pleasure.
