From May to August 1973, five men and six women with different ethnic origins made a trip on a raft across the Atlantic Ocean as part of an anthropological experiment on violence, aggression, and sexual attraction, designed by the renowned Spanish-Mexican anthropologist Santiago Genovés. From file footage, the reading of Genovés’ diary, and scenic elements such as the reconstruction of the ship used 45 years before, this documentary, second feature film by the Sweden filmmaker and artist Marcus Lindeen tells the relatively unknown story that often has been described as one of the strangest human experiments of all times.
