In 1969, Robert Smithson chooses a public sculpture located in the capital of Campeche, officially called Reemergence, to portray himself and record his passage across the city during the travel he made in the Yucatán peninsula.

Forty-five years later, Luis Carlos Hurtado decides to start with this image and sculpture, now called by the inhabitants as “Stuck Man”, in order to start a series of derives and transliterated approximations in chronicles, drawings, photos, roundtables with artists and local authorities, publications and lectures, among other actions that the artist has detonated in Campeche, his hometown.

To represent the Stuck Reemergence in MACG, it was selected a set of pieces, among them the inscription: “The effort of the people can do everything”, which, at the end of the exhibition, will be inserted in the monument to Reemergence to occupy the empty space that the robbery of the original plaque left.
