Integrated by nearly 100 short films and feature films, 2019 Mixed Festival of Sexual Diversity in Cinema and Video takes place as part of the International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia.

Loaded with cultural metaphors, the plot of Tirisia is guided through the experience of Cheba and Serafina, two women who face maternity in a community plagued by poverty, machismo, and social taboos, amid the giant cacti of the Mixteca of Puebla. They both suffer from the “disease of the soul” to which the title alludes, and must decide if they keep their children or if they abandon them to stay with their men.

The film presents the lives of two women - and their circle of friends, which includes one of sexual diversity - in an isolated village whose inhabitants live trapped, victims of forgetfulness and tirisia: a disease of the soul.
