It seems that every sculptor is obsessed with form; that every ceramist with the volume, and every engraver with ink. For Waldemar Sjölander, who was all this and painter, at once, his greatest obsession was color; from there: Färg, the word leading the title of this exhibition. Sjölander, who was trained as water-color painter in his native Sweden, discontent with the sober tone inspiration offered by the hues of the Nordic lands, decided to endeavor in the utopian search for color in America.

Färg presents four axes telling the creative process of the artist since 1930, before his arrival in Mexico, an up to the moments before his death in Mexico City, on 1988. From his earliest experimentations with glaze, when he still ascribed himself to the Colorists of Gothenburg; his arrival and graphic experimentation in the Isthmus of Tehuantepec; the transition of bi-dimensional work to sculpture and, finally, the language of non-figuration. This last nucleus makes evident one of his most profuse lines of work, where he would confirm his conviction on the inexistence of abstraction, as for him everything was part of the reality.
