The second edition of the season Lectures with National Awards is a collaboration between the Consulting Council of Sciences of the Presidency of the Republic and the National Center of the Arts (Cenart) that has the objective of encouraging the discussion of ideas in areas such as physics, chemistry, mathematics, social sciences, philosophy, history, technology, and design.

Jaime Humberto Urrutia Fucugauchi was born in Chihuahua. He received his bachelor's degree in geophysical engineering from the School of Engineering (1975) and his master's degree from the Faculty of Sciences (1976) from UNAM. He obtained his PhD at the University of Newcastle upon Tyne, England (1980). He made a postdoctoral stay at the University of Michigan USA (1982-1983). He has a large published work: 220 articles in international journals, 12 special volumes, 60 chapters in books and memoirs, 40 articles about scientific policy and reports.
