Diego Rivera, Universal Artist

The exhibition consists of 31 works carried out from 1904 to 1956, just one year before the artist's death.

Within this collection it stands out the paintings he made in the Soviet Union in the last year of his life; in addition to a landscape on Peak of Orizaba from 1906 he painted when he was very young, Women with sunflowers, which symbolizes the earth and fertility.

This collection is considered one of the most important of the Mexican muralist outside Mexico City, because it shows a journey of 52 years of the painter’s career, which reflects his skill in painting techniques such as oil, tempera, watercolor, pastel, collage, pencil drawing, charcoal and ink. It is a visual journey ranging from muralism, to cubism, the European schools to the nationalist and indigenous proposals. The collection includes landscapes, still life, portraits, nudes and costumbrist scenes.
