The Fundación MAPFRE presents the first comprehensive retrospective of Paz Errázuriz (1944), one of the most internationally recognized Chilean photographers. Errázuriz, a self-taught artist, began her work in the 1970s. Her photographic projects often transgressed the rules of the political regime at the time by venturing to work in environments where women were not well received.

Her images show us places and areas with prevalent marginalization and isolation, and the individuals portrayed in her photographs comport in ways that are beyond the conventional and established order. The bold eye of this artist, a co-founder of the Association of Independent Photographers (AFI), stands out in that she reveals to us the most undercover aspects of everyday Chilean life, which she has achieved through her practice founded on the spending time with the people that appear in her photographs to generate confidence and mutual respect.

This exhibition brings together over 170 works, including photographs, videos, and documents, that allow visitors to retrospectively review the distinct components of the show.
