35th Anniversary of the National Museum for the Popular Cultures

The National Museum for the Popular Cultures was born as an answer to the need to have an institution that contributed to the promotion, displaying, and spreading of the values of popular culture.

Throughout these years, it has organized temporary exhibitions with themes according to the popular art and cultures, and has promoted the development of popular cultures jointly with their creators and bearers, in order to promote among society the knowledge, appreciation, and preservation of the cultural diversity and the cultural heritage. Thus encouraging among Mexican society, the interest and revalorization of its own cultural achievements, promoting the respect for the cultural pluralism that characterizes our country.

Roundtable: History. Contextualizing the historic time frame of popular cultures in the early 1980s, as well as the pertinence of the National Museum for the Popular Cultures and its museological discursive language.

Bestowing of acknowledgements to workers with more than 30 years of service in the National Museum for the Popular Cultures.

Opening of the exhibition: Memory and Perspectives

Roundtable. Perspectives
A discussion about the transformation of the reality of popular cultures at 35 years of the creation of the National Museum for the Popular Cultures and where are they heading.
