Helen Escobedo (Mexico City, 1934-2010) was one of the most renowned artists of her generation. While there have been organized different retrospective exhibitions about her artistic production, this exhibit recovers in a single exhibition space, for the first time, her career as cultural manager. Escobedo promoted the expansion of the artistic spaces in the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), during the period that she was at the head of the Visual Arts Department which she directed from 1961 to 1974, and the Department of Museums and Galleries, from 1974 to 1979; both dependencies of the General Office for Cultural Promotion.

The exhibition is divided in three nuclei encompassing different moments in Escobedo’s administration.

The booklet of the exhibition brings together essays, a previously unpublished interview between Helen Escobedo and Cuauhtémoc Medina, as well as a timeline, and the catalogue of documents included in the exhibition.
