Zacatecas Mint

Throughout the 19th century and until 1905, there were in Mexico fourteen mints. The most prolific of all and that had a life of 95 years of uninterrupted work was in Zacatecas, founded in 1810 in the context of the beginning of the independence movement and closed in 1905. The currency from Zacatecas of 8 reales circulated throughout the world, mainly in Asia, where it was always highly appreciated.

This room exhibits two collections: The Numismatic, composed of coins minted in the Zacatecas Mint, complemented with chips, proclamations, decorations, medals, cartons, tickets from various issuers and banknotes of the Banco de Zacatecas. And the old machinery from minting, donated by the Mint of Mexico to the Government of the State of Zacatecas.
