On January 10, 1918, it was reported that nearly 800 Zapatistas surrendered to the government of President Venustiano Carranza. Among the leaders who had laid down their arms were Epigmenio Carbajal, Crisóforo Ocampo, Vidal Vértiz, Melesio Albarrán, Luciano Peralta, Tomás Jiménez, Elías Gómez and Félix Hernández, who had accepted the amnesty offered by the general Pablo González, military commander of the campaign against Zapata.
